You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Security Operations Division (Code 1122), Security and Fire Office (Code 1120), Executive Support Staff (Code 1100) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will ensure OPSEC measures conform to guidance from highter authority. You will maintain awareness of all organizational activities that are OPSEC sensitive and advise appropriate personnel about the organizations OPSEC posture. You will coordinate the planning and development of hte OPSEC Program. You will receive threat data and incorporate it in the OPSEC plans and Operations. You will supervise organizational OPSEC training and ensure that assigned personnel are familiar with the significant contribution of the OPSEC process to overall mission effectiveness. You will assist with the development of training and awareness material.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP) and is subject to random drug testing as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing tasks in support of command Operations Security (OPSEC) Programs protecting information, personnel, property and material from unauthorized disclosure, theft, assault, or sabotage. Experience developing Operational Security (OPSEC) programs and plans. Experience writing comprehensive briefs, decision papers, and After-Action Reports. Experience implementing knowledge of various security functions within OPSEC and Antiterrorism/Force Protection in order to resolve OPSEC problems. Experience developing methods to monitor development and training of new OPSEC Program Initiatives and systems.
