This position is located at the Tickets & Travel Office, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, NAS Jacksonville, FL. The incumbent provides customer service to authorized patrons by promoting and selling tickets to area recreation attractions. This position also serves as a source of information relating to a wide variety of recreational and event activities both on board Naval Station and off.
Duties
Assists patrons in organizing cruises, travel and trips to tourist attractions and/or in the purchase of tickets to a variety of tourist attractions, sporting events, concerts, and other recreational activities.
Provides up to date information to patrons over the telephone as well as face to face.
Verifies patron eligibility for military discounts. Contacts various commercial activities and other agencies to obtain up to date information concerning pricing specials, discounts, availability, and other pertinent information.
Prepares sales receipts, rings items up on cash register and collects payment for services, in accordance with standard operating procedures for cash, check and credit card handling.
Responsible for personal ticket stock inventory, change fund, the depositing of cash receipts and reconciliation of cash receipts, with customer receipts and ticket inventory daily.
Maintains current event files for all local events/attractions. Accepts custody of tickets from ticket custodian and obtains needed change fund requirements in the absence of supervisor.
Responsible for security of equipment and ticket inventory. Assists with the group travel program of the Tickets and Travel office to administer trips.
May act as trip escort responsible for the safety and coordination of the group while on the trip.
Assists in maintaining overall appearance and cleanliness of the office.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Must be within 50 mile radius upon applying.
Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Basic knowledge of local and Florida recreational attractions.
Must have a strong customer service skills.
Ability to use Office products such as Word and Excel as well as the ability to operate a computerized cash register point of sale system.
Basic math and cash handling skills is needed.
Must be able to follow oral and written directions.
Ability to deal tactfully with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Work may require sitting, walking long periods, standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds, occasionally required to lift heavier items.
Must have or be able to obtain EFR or CPR First Aid certification within 90 days of being placed in the position.
