The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System consists of two medical centers, three large multi-specialty outpatient clinics and eight small community-based primary care outpatient clinics. The Malcom Randall VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Gainesville is a tertiary care facility that is also an active teaching hospital, with an extensive array of specialty services.

Duties

Participates in the development and establishment of policies and procedures for quality control of sanitary services. Acts as Contracting Officers Representative (COR) liaison for Gainesville and Lake City. Manages employees whose duties are to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation. Participates in the development of procedures used in establishment and maintenance of control for the distribution and accountability of linens. Inspects exam rooms, corridors, stairways, laboratories and all administrative areas for cleanliness and conducts quality insurance inspections. Advises the supervisors of deficiencies and ensures that they are corrected through follow-up inspections. Conducts inventories and inspections of linens, establishes par levels, durability, and replacement needs. Participants in the planning, coordinating and directing of day-to-day operating activities and performs designated administrative and supervisory functions which assist the Assistant Chief in carrying out the responsibilities of his/her office. Responsible for the administrative functions to include preparation of reports and answering correspondence from other services. The incumbent administrative duties will include disciplinary actions, performance appraisals, competencies, review time and attendance, linen inventories and weekly inspections. Prepares and provides draft disciplinary actions and awards to the Deputy Chief for his/her approval. Incumbent shall have an extensive working knowledge of the legislation regulations, and methods used in contracting; and knowledge of business and industry practices, sources of supply, cost factors, and requirements. The incumbent directs daily EMS operations providing general supervision over the facility answering questions and recommending innovative methods and equipment used to clean and sanitize. Accompanies inspectors on walk-through evaluations of the cleanliness of the facility answering questions and recommending innovative methods and equipment used to clean and sanitize. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/25/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience with environmental (EMS) care policies and regulations. Experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis measuring the effectiveness of programs. Experience inspecting rooms, areas, corridors etc for cleanliness. Experience communicating with supervisors any deficiencies, problems, or operational needs OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Master's or equivalent graduate degree-OR-2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree-OR-LL.B. or J.D., if related . OR Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work can be physical at times requiring the incumbent to make daily rounds evaluating daily operations to ensure program objectives are being met. Walking, standing, climbing and lifting items up to 75lbs such as equipment, cleaning supplies, trash, linens and furniture. Position also requires driving or traveling by motor vehicle. Special Situations: Variety of work scheduling projects on 3 shifts and throughout NF/SG (North Florida/South Georgia) Veterans Health Administration. Fluctuating work force or constantly changing deadlines due to extremely high patient turnover. physical dispersion special staffing instructions impact of specialized programs changing technology Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, large rooms, corridors and others. The work also involves spending time in storage areas, patient care areas and waste storage handling areas. Follows and promotes safe work practices and procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Recognizes and reports unsafe or unhealthy conditions and or practices to their supervisor or any available supervisory personnel. They report work related injuries or illness to supervisory personnel and complies with proper documentation requirements.
