You will serve as an HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT REPAIRER in the Southwest Region Fleet Transportation Division, Maintenance Department of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
Duties
You will perform work related to the servicing, maintenance, repair, inspection and troubleshooting of heavy mobile equipment.
You will perform scheduled maintenance, operation checks, repairs, and adjustments.
You will remove, adjust, or replace defective and worn parts and components.
You will work on equipment powered by gasoline, diesel, propane, natural gas, electric, and alternate fuels.
You will assist higher graded personnel in disassembling/assembling, repairing major systems, components, and operating mechanisms.
You will assist higher graded personnel in the complete overhaul and repair of major systems such as engines, transmissions, drive lines, and hydraulic systems.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to perform repeated lifting of up to 45 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds.
- You must be able to distinguish colors.
- You must obtain and maintain a state issued driving license.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You must obtain and maintain a government license/certification for all assigned equipment.
- You will be required to work outdoors in a wide variety of weather conditions, including inclement weather.
- You must possess your own tools with the exception of special tools, which are available from the tool room.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ability to perform the duties of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer, working under close supervision, as demonstrated by performing work related to the servicing, maintenance, and/or repair of heavy mobile equipment (e.g., firefighting equipment, tank and pumper trucks, refueling trucks, and/or air field support equipment, materials handling equipment, automotive vehicles, or similar heavy vehicles and equipment); performing scheduled maintenance, operational checks, and/or repairs and adjustments, as needed; removing, adjusting, or replacing defective and worn part and components; assisting higher graded personnel in disassembling/assembling, repairing major systems, components and operating mechanisms; using basic diagnostic equipment and analyzers; using basic hand tools; reading and comprehending repair/parts manuals, procedures, and instructions.
