You will serve as the Chief of Staff in the Engineering and Technology Directorate. You will be responsible for providing strategic direction and plans to improve efficiency within the Directorate moving the organization forward in exploring the path to 2040. In addition, you will coordinate administrative staff activities and manage office functions.
Duties
Provides advice and council to resolve a wide scope of operational and strategic issues which range from recurring events to complex and unprecedented activities.
Integrates center wide actions and resolutions on behalf of the Engineering and Technology Directorate and provide planning and implementation for administrative and operational aspects of Goddard's programs and management.
Keeps the Director of Engineering and Technology and his staff informed of actions and issues facing the Directorate and its programs as well as coordinating administrative staff activities and managing office functions.
Develops and delivers briefings, project papers, status/staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
Applies a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve products and services.
Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Requirements
- Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
- A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Leading administrative or programmatic functions to support project/program initiatives;
Supporting the assessment of administrative or operational aspects of initiatives and services to resolve conflicts, recommend areas of collaboration, or implement changes;
Coordinating administrative staff activities or managing office functions.
