The Incumbent will be assigned to Radiology Service within Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The primary purpose of this position is to provide full support to the Chief of Radiology Service and the Administrative Officer. The incumbent will operate independently in assuring that imaging/scanning service-level goals and objectives are being accomplished and performance measures are being met.
Duties
Duties include:
Incumbent requires considerable specialized and expertise knowledge of, and use of, VISTA Imaging System, VISTA Scheduling, and DICOM Importer.
Incumbent is considered super user of DICOM Importer and VISTA Imaging Systems, requiring expert knowledge of each system.
Incumbent is responsible for retrieving consults in CPRS, viewing the report and image to verify accuracy of patient information, registering exam in the radiology package, electronically filing report with canned statement, entering appropriate diagnostic cods, importing report using DICOM Importer System, importing images using DICOM Importer System, verifying image quality/completeness and documenting actions performed in the Radiology consult in CPRS.
Incumbent is required to train physicians within the facility and outside the facility, any applicable community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) personnel, and personnel credentialed through the VA from affiliated academic institutions.
Serves as an educator by providing Radiology Imaging information to relevant organizations and groups internal and external to the facility.
Incumbent must have thorough knowledge and ability to train others in areas related to staffing, budgeting, planning, academics, research, timekeeping, and data analysis/collection.
Coordinates and makes decisions for continuum of care through coordination with all services within and outside the facility.
Will work with patients, hospitals, and all available community resources to remove barriers that have traditionally interfered with patient access to or compliance with outpatient care.
Will work in collaboration and continuous partnership with Radiology patients and their family/caregiver(s), clinic/hospital/staff, and community resources in a team approach.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Physical Requirements: Most work is in an office setting. There is some standing, bending, stooping, walking, and carrying of light items to different areas of the medical center and health science campus. Incumbent carries lightweight items not normally weighing more than twenty-five pounds.

Qualifications

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Experience with communication and interpersonal relations, including the ability to relate to internal and external customers appropriately and courteously; knowledge and ability to train others in areas related to staffing, budgeting, planning, academics, research, timekeeping, and data analysis/collection; broad understanding of the clinic functions and detailed knowledge of all section clinic grids, schedules, and functions; possess a higher than average knowledge of medical terminology necessary in the preparation of correspondence, articles submitted for publication in medical journals, and preparation of manuscripts and research grants. Note: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
Preferred experience: The ideal candidate will have prior radiology scheduling and radiology information handling experience.
