This position is located in the Emergency Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit in Whiteriver, AZ. The primary purpose of this position is to provide full technical and administrative Supervision for the Emergency Department. The Supervisory Nurse directs nursing employees in the performance of nursing tasks related to the care of predominately emergent and urgent patients of a diverse population.
Duties
Serves as Supervisory Nurse with responsibilities of ensuring that nursing care is provided and for accomplishment of work planning, direction and performance evaluation.
Provides direction, instructions and training in tasks, job techniques and the use of specialty equipment.
Plans and adjusts work assignments and operations to meet organizational objectives, priorities, deadlines and standards of care.
Assures nursing capabilities, staffing and equipment requirements to meet the work demands, safety requirements and accreditation standards.
Evaluates operations and services provided in relation to patient flow, productivity and health care needs of the population. Proposes and/or implements needed changes and improvements.
Develops new unit policies and incorporates research and information into existing policies, reflecting current nursing practices.
Regularly reviews and updates policy and procedural manuals including Nursing Policies and Procedures, Infection Control, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Nursing Standards of Care.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include have Supervising, managing, directing, coordinating, providing leadership and evaluating the provision of nursing care provided on a nursing unit, either independently or under the direction of a higher-level Nursing Supervisor. Organized, directed and reviewed work of subordinates, administered personnel matters such as hiring and adverse actions, and managed a budget.
