Purpose of Position: Provide support for all teams in the Nursing Service related to computer access and application access/sage based upon the Nursing Informatics (NI) and Clinical & Scientific Inquiry (CSI) programs.

Duties

Major Duties: Enters tickets for computer software/hardware/telephone issues that cannot be resolved by the ADPAC. Determines appropriate computer access for all employees within the Service, to include VistA menu options, security keys and Fileman access; share drive access/permissions; support electronic 6-part folder maintenance; and Outlook distribution lists and VistA mail groups. Participates and collaborates with the Nurse Informaticists to assess data to identify, quantify and resolve Nursing Service Informatics related problems. Resolves deformed segments on own. Conducts evaluations of clinical software needs and makes recommendations. Trains users within the Service/functional area on the use of VistA email, entering leave, and specific package use, as appropriate. This would include enhancements or new functionality that may impact a package. Educates Nursing staff on methods and means to make Nursing health care operations more effective and efficient. Develops tools and training guides for the user and participates in delivering training and educational programs to others as appropriate to knowledge and skill level. Collects, analyzes, and provides feedback on effectiveness of access, training and suggests improvements/enhancements. Initiates and provides all types of Nursing related computer program access and managing the access until completion. Performs basic and second level troubleshooting of computer software and hardware issues on the affected Nursing Service unit. Initiates User Access Forms for all new employees within the service/functional area and updating the forms, as needed, when changes in access are necessary. Assists users within the Service/functional area in logging on to the Network and logging on to VistA; taking security awareness training; and setting up electronic signature Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm Compressed/Flexible: Not applicable Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/30/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: (1) Use word processing software, and spreadsheet software to execute several office automations functions and graphical display of data. (2) Prepares variety of recurring and nonrecurring reports, correspondence and other documents; (3) Gathering information, identifying and analyzing issues and develop recommendation to resolve problems; (4) Perform other administrative and clerical work in support of the office. Proficiency Requirements In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test. 40 words per minute typing speed You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Computer Skills Health Informatics Customer Service Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
