This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for exercising full authority to act on all issues pertaining to the NE Departments throughout the continental United States and overseas locations. Reports directly to the NE Director, exercising full authority to act on all issues pertaining to NE Departments and functions throughout the Agency.

Duties

As a Strategic Operations Advisor at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as the Chief of Staff of NE, exercising full authority to act on all issues pertaining to the NE Departments throughout the continental United States and overseas locations. Reports directly to the NE Director, exercising full authority to act on all issues pertaining to NE Departments and functions throughout the Agency. Manages all aspects of the NE's daily operations and the management and direction of staff on behalf of the Director and Deputy Director. Responsible for planning, initiation, direction, coordination, and indirect staff oversight and management for the Directorate. Serves as the advisor and oversees the management of the Directorate's policies, programs, and procedures. Analyzes and evaluates personnel, equipment, space, and funding needs. Conducts periodic reviews of NE requirements to advise NE leadership. Forms working groups, improvement teams, and working integrated product teams to develop recommended courses of action. Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for NE leadership to facilitate efficient and effective decision making. Acts as a strategic operations advisor to the NE Director and Deputy Director and all nuclear stakeholders both internal and external to the Directorate. Coordinates the execution of strategic initiatives and makes decisions to implement recommendations, tasks appropriate staff members to implement processes and recommends organizational changes for efficient implementation. Provides advice and administrative direction for NE programs and functions to include broad objectives. Initiates policy to develop and establish standards for the NE. Monitors and evaluates operations against established performance measures and advises the Director and Deputy Director as appropriate.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service: Leading or managing a program related to either mission assurance, nuclear surety, or nuclear stockpile Directing administrative and human resource related tasks and advising senior leaders Writing, editing and staffing executive level reports, studies, papers, and packages to DoD and/or other types of senior leadership Creating and delivering written and verbal briefings, including recommendations, to DoD and/or other types of senior leadership, and providing guidance, advisory support and assistance on major issues related to varied Countering WMD and/or nuclear programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
