The Wilson Center is one of the three special institutions created by congressional statute to perform a national mission in affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution. It is governed by its own presidentially appointed Board of Trustees and supported by public and private funds. The Center conducts and sponsors original scholarship and convenes balanced and inclusive dialogue through its programs, which cover all regions of the world and several major global issues.
Duties
The incumbent serves as the principal clerical and administrative assistant for the Scholars and Academic Relations Office (SAR) and is responsible for essential administrative duties to keep work flowing efficiently. As such, the incumbent:
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service, (obtained in either the public or private sectors). For this position, examples of specialized experience must include activities such as:
Excellent organizational and coordinating abilities to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to Scholars and Academic Relations Office (SAR) initiatives;
Knowledge of administrative regulations and operating procedures sufficient to support SAR;
Ability to use a variety of software packages, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel;
Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, including the ability to proofread in order to draft a variety of documents, reports, and summaries for a professional audience;
Knowledge of formal, professional verbal communication, and cross-cultural communication;
Basic accounting and budgetary skills;
Practical knowledge in cultivating partnerships with internal and external partners;
Knowledge of the academic and practitioner community regarding international scholarly exchange.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-8 level.

You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
