Duties
Serves as the Director of Operations for a Business Unit (BU). Responsible for ensuring that the Operations Department staffs' goals and objectives align with the DAU Strategic
Plan and the current DAU Performance Plan as well as the BU's goals and objectives. This is a supervisory position. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Assists with setting priorities, establish schedules and ensures execution of all activities associated with a specified project within the Business Unit. Ensures maximum and most effective use of available resources. Maintains and safeguards DAU records under immediate cognizance to ensure compliance with existing Privacy Act regulations.
Proposes policy and procedural changes in the Business Unit in support of the DAU mission. Oversees or supports compliance of Business Unit in adhering to established policies and procedures. Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating a variety of support services within this functional area for the BU.
Participates in special projects across the enterprise. Actively supports an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Employs tack and diplomacy when interacting with all internal and external customers.
Fosters an internal and external environment that promotes continuous improvement, has a customer centric approach and high regard for customer satisfaction. Acts as a sensor with internal partners. Collaborates within and across business units to improve service, streamline processes, and find resource efficiencies.
Supports the development of measures and metrics of success, analyzes data, and recommends actions to support better execution of business decisions that improves efficiency and impact to the workforce within the BU.
Supports the development of innovative and creative solutions to senior leadership that supports transformation and adapting to changes.
Participates in long and short range planning, coordinating and prioritizing use of financial and physical assets to achieve regional goals.
Coordinates with DAU Operations to ensure safety and maintenance of facilities. Helps to ensure facility issues are rectified in a timely manner. Collaborates with Acquisition
Services Directorate to ensure continuity and quality of contracted goods and services. Interacts and coordinates with faculty, staff and operational personnel at DAU, DoD, the
Services, other governmental agencies and private industry, as required to establish/maintain operational and facility support for the BU.
Provides briefings to the Dean on annual and long-range comprehensive regional budget formulation and execution. Supports purchase requisitions, ensuring proper use of funds.
Supports measuring and reporting metrics to BU leadership in order to execute and manage progress on associated aspects of the operations mission.
Provides guidance for the BU's Human Resources functions including: managing regional hiring actions, on and off boarding, and the awards program. Serves as the BU's
Personnel Security point of contact, monitoring security clearances and initiating re-investigations, when required, for faculty/staff.
Prepare, defend, realigns and forecast budgetary, personnel and scheduling requirements
Implement talent management strategies and objectives to supervise, engage, develop and sustain a highly skilled workforce. Adhere to Merit System and Equal Opportunity

- Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
- You may be required to serve a one (1) year probationary period.
- The incumbent of this position may be required to work overtime, irregular shifts, and/or on the weekend.
- Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on commercial aircraft.
Qualifications
You must have specialized experience directly relating to the specific duties of the position, and demonstrate that you have the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully with the experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge in SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband, NH-02, or equivalent to the next lower grade, GS-11 or equivalent, in other personnel pay systems including specialized experience as follows:
Experience with developing and managing facilities including the development and management of major and minor construction plans.
Experience performing complex research when proposing policy or procedures changes; identify interrelated problems, and evaluating and make recommendations concerning overall plans and proposals for regional or agency-wide program improvements.
Experience with analytical/evaluative methods and techniques necessary to plan and conduct studies and to provide recommendations where boundaries are extremely broad and interrelated.
Experience and ability to develop creative and innovative methods to support organizational improvements and/or efficiency.
Experience with program planning and budgeting cycles and executing projects and/or programs within established time and financial constraints.
Demonstrated experience with providing guidance to internal and external customers.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
