As a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist (Branch Chief) with the Spaceport Integration and Services Directorate, Medical and Environmental Service Division, you will be responsible for policy, procedures, planning, and coordination for organizational sustainability, environmental compliance, environmental planning, and environmental conservation to enable agency mission success. You will lead a team of environmental subject matter experts to implement program goals and objectives.

Duties

Advise, manage, supervise and perform administrative or program work relating to development, execution, monitoring of politically important environmental protection policies, plans, and programs. Provide functional leadership, policy, planning, and coordination for organizational sustainability, environmental compliance, environmental planning, environmental conservation, and environmental justice issues to enable agency mission success. Advance environmental stewardship within the Agency and at the multiuser spaceport to ensure environmental statutory and regulatory compliance for government and commercial partners. Supervise compliance with Environmental Regulations prior to undertaking any major federal action (Institution, Program) that significantly affects the environment. Develop and implement environmental policy, at the national or inter-agency level, and specific to carry out technical solutions to significant environmental policies for NASA, other Federal agencies, commercial partners, and contractors. Supervise coordination with necessary stakeholders (e.g., Agency, U.S. Space Force, Department of Interior, Native American tribes, Congress, public, etc.). Advocates the appropriate resources for studies. Recommend employee promotions and recognition; approves leave; implements performance modifications and takes corrective actions as appropriate. Define jobs, select employees, and assign work; define technical work requirements and milestones; evaluate the organization and employee accomplishments by accepting or rejecting work products. Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees. Requirements

  • Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Providing oversight on technical and scientific analysis conducted by consultants and subordinates to assure technical accuracy and content applicability to KSC and NASA's needs; Developing and/or analyzes proposals for new or revised federal and state environmental protection regulations and determines their impact on air, water, and/or land resources; Leading a team in the planning, development, and/or operations of a comprehensive KSC environmental program, including natural resources, sustainability, ecological studies, and compliance.
