You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/NETWORK) in the Command Information Office of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will conduct systems maintenance (e.g., upgrading, debugging) for continued system operability. You will administer information assurance (IA) programs to support the operation of information technology (IT) networks or infrastructures. You will analyze customer needs to determine which technologies are cost effective and beneficial. You will manage access and control backup procedures to ensure availability of data to authorized users.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Systems Administrator level 451 within 6 months of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Installing, testing, operating, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software systems; 2) Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems through the use of systems diagnostic tools and fault identification techniques; 3) Managing the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of systems administration services.
