You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (APPSW) in the Undersea Sensors Quality & Test Branch (GXPW), Strategic Systems Guidance, Navigation, & Control Division (GXP), Global Deterrence Defense Department (GX) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $128,043).

Duties

You will serve as the Acoustic Testing Facility IT Specialist/Technical Lead, providing technical expertise for Information Assurance scans/patches/remediation, System Technical Implementation Guide compliance and updating confidential test systems. You will provide quality assurance, troubleshooting test systems, and project planning and execution for various undersea sensors products, including TR-343 and TR-317 transducers; associated cables, stave cables, array cables, and element cables. You will lead other personnel, manage and coordinate workload amongst the team. You will create and maintain schedules in coordination with the Undersea Sensors Management Branch, the Undersea Sensors Engineering Branch, and the Undersea Sensors Sustainment Branch along with outside projects.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 451 level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: implementing and coordinating new technologies including testing and designing efficient and effective application software and operating systems in order to develop solutions to operational problems, and to ensure high reliability and optimal availability of undersea systems in support of organization's current and planned IT infrastructure. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
