The Bureau of Reclamation South Central California Area Office is seeking interested internal candidates to be considered for a professional development opportunity with the Environmental Compliance Branch ! This opportunity is for a detail or temporary promotion.

Duties
Serves as a supervisor within the Resources Management Division assigned to coordinate and manage activities related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and section 7 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Has primary responsibility and accountability for successful completion of environmental planning, natural resources initiatives, and consultations. Establishes and maintains working relationship with internal and external project proponents within the South-Central California Area Office (SCCAO). Works with multi-disciplined professional staff, researches and consults with Regional, Denver, and Washington staff for policy collaboration. To achieve project objectives, applies a seasoned knowledge of environmental statutes, regulations, and policies. Applies skilled interpersonal communication abilities required to lead a group and collaborate with other environmental professionals, stakeholders, customers, and those impacted by the projects.
Qualifications
Basic Requirement for Supervisory Natural Resources Specialist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
To Qualify at the GS-12 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience leading others in natural resources projects, evaluating a variety of natural resources programs, preparing budgets, conducting public meetings concerning natural resources programs, issuing permits for recreational activities, and developing status reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

This position does not allow for substituting education for experience.
