Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior's (Interior) Office of the Secretary of the Interior (OS), Office of Policy, Management, and Budget (PMB), Office of Policy Analysis (PPA), in Washington, DC. At the full performance level (GS-13) the major duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Analysis of the effectiveness, efficiency, and equity of existing and proposed policies and programs. Development of methodology and technical guidance for policy and program analysis. Conducts policy and program analysis related to natural and cultural resources and environmental issues. Participates in the design and evaluation of studies to be executed by the Department, other Bureaus, and Offices for adequacy of methods and relevance to policy. Advises specialists regarding the conduct, results, and policy implications of completed studies. The Office of the Secretary has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval Salary Range Information: GS-12: $94,199 - 122,459 per annum. First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. A recruitment incentive may be authorized at the discretion of the bureau. This vacancy is also announced as OS-6012-23-ETA-208(MP) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures. Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the grade to which you are applying. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-12, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. Conducting policy analyses on natural resources or environmental policies, OR gathering and analyzing data to identify trends and patterns related to natural or cultural resources or environmental issues; AND 2. Writing reports and papers supporting positions on policies and programs.
