This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Assistant Commandant for Intelligence (CG-2), Office of Intelligence Security Management (CG-22), Intelligence Special Security Management Division (CG-221), Washington, D.C.

Duties

You will serve as Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (GSSO), responsible for SAP and Controlled Access Program (CAP) operations falling under the security cognizance of Coast Guard Intelligence (CG-2). You will also provide security guidance to military, government civilian and contractor personnel. 

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Drug / Alcohol Test is required
  • State Driver's license is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • A non-disclosure must be signed.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level performing duties such as: serving as an advisor and technical expert on local procedures for controlled access programs; serving as a technical expert in the classification, management, controlling and safeguarding classified information; responding to questions involving the requests for SAP/CAP program access to evaluate administrative procedures for efficiency and security compliance. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office. This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. This is the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Certification Program directed by DoD Instruction 3305.13. The SPeD certification is DoD's initiative to professionalize the security workforce by establishing a common set of competencies for security practitioners that promotes interoperability, facilitates professional development and training, and develops a workforce of certified security professionals. This position requires you to obtain and maintain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification within the first two years of employment.
