In this position, you will serve as IT Specialist (INFOSEC) located in the Information Technology (IT) Security Branch, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Federal Election Commission (FEC).
This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As the IT Specialist (INFOSEC) in this position, you will:
Serves as a technical expert utilizing of Information Technology (IT) systems security concepts and methods.
Utilize knowledge of project management principles and methods to review and evaluate security measures; identify new security technologies or threats; coordinate the implementation of new policies and procedures; and implement measures to ensure compliance at the Federal Election Commission.
Brief Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) on the Commission's security posture and implement plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
Requirements

Qualifications

Basic Requirement for the Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210 occupation:
You must have Information Technology (IT) related experience demonstrating each of the following competencies:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;
2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;
3) Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and
4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Additional Requirements for the grade GS-13:
To qualify for the grade GS-13, you must have one full year of specialized experience serving as a senior IT specialist integrating and adapting new technology into existing architecture. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors) and include activities such as:(1) monitoring security alerts, and diagnosing the root cause of the alerts; (2) conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs; (3) conducting systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews; (4) preparing reports, briefings, summaries, and progress reports pertaining to IT and cybersecurity projects.
Additional Requirements for the grade GS-14:
To qualify for the grade GS-14, you must have one full year of specialized experience serving as a senior IT specialist integrating and adapting new technology into existing architecture. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors) and include activities such as:(1) implementing risk mitigation strategies for IT programs and projects; (2) providing technical advice, counsel and instructions on cybersecurity and information technology issues to all stakeholders including senior agency officials; (3) developing and maintaining information systems security plans (ISSPs) for major applications or systems; (4) writing reports, letters, and other documents with recommendations on computer security policy and programs.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-12 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 grade level.
One year at the GS-13 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 grade level.
