About the Position: This position is located with the United States Army Installation Management Command, United States Army Garrison, Fort Riley Directorate of Human Resources, Military Personnel Division, Casualty Branch in Fort Riley, Kansas.
Duties
Plan, present, evaluate, maintain all phases of Casualty Affairs program instruction for the Casualty Assistance Center.
Coordinate for the training and or certification of Casualty Assistance and Notification.
Develop lesson plans and complete outlines of material to be covered in the program.
Collect and analyze information obtained through surveys, task analysis, and other fact-finding means, and develop recommendations based on the findings.
Implement training to support Military Funeral Honors teams, Casualty Notification Officers, and Casualty Assistance Officers.
Develop casualty affairs lesson plans based on identified program objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent performs 24-hour casualty assistance duties and must be immediately available to
respond.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes teaching or instructing in a classroom setting, implementing a training program, development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, and evaluation of training results. Developing lesson plans to be covered in a Casualty Assistance Center program of instruction; advising staff on policies, procedures and directives from higher level management; and briefing supervisors on the status and capabilities of training systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
