This position is in the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System (NWI) in Lincoln, Nebraska, servicing the NWI Medical Center (Level 1 C facility) Primary Care Service Line including the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC). Other campuses are Omaha, NE VA outpatient clinic focusing on ambulatory care services and VA Grand Island Medical Center which also has a robust ambulatory care program and 18 resident substance abuse beds and a textile care (laundry facility.)
Duties
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
Functions as the primary timekeeper for the department. Performs and monitors established administrative management requirements for the Department which entail well-established administrative requirements and responsibilities.
Represents the Primary Care Service Line at meetings attended by representatives of various medical and non-medical services.
collaborate with Resident Physician Leadership and academic affiliates to monitor clinic coverage needs and continuity of the educational training programs. Prepares miscellaneous reports and responds to inquiries as needed.
Assists in preparing financial after-action reports which includes analyses and recommendations for cost savings.
Develops and coordinates support requirements (i.e., equipment, and facilities) for the operation of the programs.
Identifies and performs routine liaison tasks with academic affiliates. Prepares miscellaneous reports for local leadership and VISN 23 service line program offices and responds to inquiries.
Prepares departmental inputs to the budget process through the Administrative Officer. She/he coordinates with the Budget and Fiscal Office to track and monitor obligations, commitments, and expenditures for specific areas within the NWI Primary Care Service Line

Physical Requirements: Typically, the position sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. May be required to wear personal protective equipment if applicable.
Work Environment: Positions may require occasional travel. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical ofsuch places as offices, meeting, and training rooms. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Work will be conducted in a safe manner adhering to Medical Center safety policies. Occasional travel is necessary.

Specialized Experience GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: assisting with developing a budget or purchasing office supplies; developing administrative procedures; analyzing data to provide solutions to administrative issues; interpreting and applying regulations, laws and policies; and/or conducting interviews or focus groups with managers, supervisors and/or employees to gather information.
