This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a Project Manager responsible for the overall acquisition, management, control, planning, technical direction, coordination and execution of specified projects which supports the formulation, development, and delivery of hardware and software technologies.
Duties
As a NUCLEAR WARGAMING AND ASSESSMENTS SPECIALIST (SPECIAL PROJECTS) at the GS-0301-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Uses managerial techniques, program analysis, and management information systems to monitor and evaluate the status and progress of work, contractor's performance, and, briefs leaders and program managers/contractor officer representatives as appropriate.
Initiates procurement activities and coordinates with scientists/engineers/computer scientists to translate technical proposals into workable financial and administrative project plans consistent with objectives.
Work includes multiple simultaneous projects, ranging from small, single-discipline to large multi-disciplinary projects, involving both single and multiple-year phasing (5+ years).
This position is located in the DTRA Nuclear Assessments Division, Nuclear Technologies Department, which has responsibility for developing technologies to support multi-mission nuclear wargaming, nuclear treaty monitoring and verification, and forensics missions in support of Joint Forces and International partners.

- Occasional Travel - Travel in the performance of temporary assignments may be required up to 10% of duty time (CONUS/OCONUS). Valid Passport Required.

- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance with special background investigation.

- This is an Acquisition Workforce position in the Program Management functional area. The incumbent will be required to become certified in the Practionier tier within 5 years.
- The incumbent is required to acquire a minimum of 40 continuous learning points (CLPs) every fiscal year as a goal and 80 CLPs being mandatory within 2 years
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS 13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Knowledge and general experience collaborating with the Teammates and Supervisors to manage innovative research and development (R&D) projects supporting nuclear assessments and wargaming software development.
Knowledge and general experience with acquisition and/or budgeting systems and collaborating with Contracting Officers, Contracting Managers, Scientists/Engineers/Computer Scientists, and Program Managers to execute projects.
General experience working with teams of subject matter experts (SME) related to the fields of wargaming and/or nuclear technologies as a non-SME, but demonstrates acumen to execute SME advice on project direction.
General experience identifying and building working relationships with a customer, discerning current and new requirements from that customer, and leading efficiently towards project completion.
You may qualify at the GS 12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Basic knowledge and basic experience collaborating with the Teammates and Supervisors to manage innovative research and development (R&D) projects supporting nuclear assessments and wargaming software development.
Basic knowledge and basic experience with acquisition and/or budgeting systems and collaborating with Contracting Officers, Contracting Managers, Scientists/Engineers/Computer Scientists, and Program Managers to execute projects.
Basic experience working with teams of subject matter experts (SME) related to the fields of wargaming and/or nuclear technologies as a non-SME, but demonstrates acumen to execute SME advice on project direction.
Basic experience identifying and building working relationships with a customer, discerning current and new requirements from that customer, and leading efficiently towards project completion.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
