You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the N631 SCI IT OPERATIONS BRANCH, N63 SCI IT SERVICE DIVISION, N6 IT SERVICES DEPARTMENT of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will perform as a senior-level computer scientist specializing in system administration for Linx/Unix based scientific oceanographic production information systems.
You will develop scripts for systems management utilizing Linux/Unix based scripting capabilities.
You will evaluate diagnostic and system metrics analyzing system stability in a complex scientific processing environment.
You will ensure OS installations, configurations, and modifications are IAW assurance technical controls.

Qualifications
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the Basic Education Requirement listed above, Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Experience utilizing Linux operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SuSE or SuSE Linux Enterprise, or ORACLE Linux;
Experience utilizing Linux-centric scripting or programming languages, specifically with GNU Bash, Python, Perl, JavaScript, Ansible, YAML, or C/C++.;
Experience performing project management or technical lead for complex information technology- or cybersecurity-related projects;
Experience performing information assurance and information security regarding Linux systems, middleware, and infrastructure; and
Experience providing detailed technical documentation and written standard operating procedures
