You will serve as a SUPERVISORY LIFTING & HANDLING SUPERINTENDENT in the LIFTING & HANDLING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will manage the development of long term training to maintain the necessary skill requirements for the shop. You will monitor and evaluate the performance of work practices of personnel within the shop to initiate necessary corrective actions. You will assist with the development of competitive bid packages that cover major and complex work on various classes of surface vessels and nuclear submarines. You will analyze shop manpower resources, work operations, and/or equipment and facilities to identify the need for changes.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working extensively with total Shipyard work operations, trades, and shop practices; Experience working with all phases of nuclear and non-nuclear submarine repair and overhaul; Experience applying analytical management techniques to include: production and material control, cost and quality control, and personnel management; AND Experience managing various levels of shop supervisors and trades people.
