You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will manage planning cycle and advance production scheduling of all real property maintenance and repair projects. You will review job plans and packages for adherence to original request and reasonability of estimated value. You will use initiative and judgment based on experience to develop solutions to problems. You will monitor and relay to supervisors any problems within the job and situations that may affect scheduled delivery of assigned tasks.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing documents, job plans, material list, cost estimates etc. for various structures; 2) Developing detailed cost estimates using computer estimating software; 3) Understanding construction quality management, quality assurance planning, project partnering, environmental requirements, cost estimating and construction safety practices and facility maintenance procedures; 4) Preparing, reading and interpreting engineering and architectural plans and specifications; and 5) Coordinating with other disciplines and solving problems encountered during review and execution of construction operations.
