Duties
You will serve as the environmental planning section head and directly supervise a 7-person program management team encompassing NEPA, Environmental Compliance Audit, Cultural Resources, and Environmental Training and Education programs.
You will direct, administer, monitor, and maintain records to ensure the Command is in full compliance with all applicable environmental, regulations and standards, Presidential Executive Orders, DA, DoD and HQ USMC policies.
You will develop and advocate for planning section plans, programs, guidance documents, and funding requirements.
You will work with commands, units, programs, and organizations aboard the installation to ensure appropriate environmental planning processes are incorporated and applied.
You will use extensive program knowledge to develop and/or adapt standards for environmental functions across the installation.
You will attend and/or participate in installation program assessments, visits by higher HQ and other visitors.
You will conduct on site evaluations to determine program effectiveness.
You will review organizational projects for technical adequacy, consistency, and compliance with policies etc. to ensure progress toward goals, meeting milestones, and optimum data conditions.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, managing, and implementing environmental initiatives, policies, and programs that embrace a range of subjects directly or indirectly concerned with the protections and conservation of the installation's environment, natural resources, and public welfare and safety.
