About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Surgery, Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) with the Defense Health Agency, Indo-Pacific Market.

Duties
Perform Audiology support services to include Newborn Hearing Screening.
Support hearing aid dispensing programs.
Coordinate with patients and providers for scheduling appointments.
Prepare patients for audiology exams.
Conduct daily newborn screenings to include Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) screening and Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) testing.
Assist patients with the selection, fitting, and orientation procedures for hearing aids.
Keep inventory of medical records, logs, schedules, and device ordering.
Oversee contingences for ordering and replacing hearing aids for patients.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 10 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes verifying and updating patient history, assisting with administering audiology tests, coordinating appointments for patients, and assisting with the selection and fitting of hearing aid devices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Successfully completed a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with a major field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position such as biology, medical technology, or audiology, or (b) that included 24 semester hour in courses relating to the specialization of the position. Of the 24 semester hours, at least 12 must have been in a field of study directly related to the specialization of the position as identified in A. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
