You will serve as a SCHEDULES SPECIALIST in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of TRAINING AIR WING FIVE. Salary Range: GS-07: $46,696 - $60,703 GS-09: $57,118 - $74,250

Duties

You will conduct detailed analysis of resource availability (aircraft, crew day, instructor pilots, student aviators, etc.) and scheduling against that availability. You will analyze current and historical flight schedule execution including personnel, simulator, academic event, and aircraft utilization to streamline and increase efficiencies of current and future operations. You will collect and analyze systematic shortfalls in the scheduling process to develop mitigation plans in order to manage changing variables in the flight operations schedule. You will collect and analyze information regarding ground training and simulator training schedule to develop and incorporate into the master schedule. You will prepare and update operational and other flight training related reports using Training Integration Management System (TIMS). You will use TIMS to monitor student training and instructor pilot qualifications based on current data and current day flight operations schedule to ensure student is assigned to appropriate instructor pilot. You will analyze, extract, summarize, and identify significant trends and issues that may affect the daily flight operation schedule.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

For the GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing resource availability to identify naval aviation training program shortfalls and develop schedules that mitigate changing variables (e.g. maintenance cancellations, weather delays, medical events) to ensure that flight operations are not compromised. For the GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reviewing resource requirements and workload data for a training program to compile reports that provide scheduling solutions that reduce the impact on flight operations. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

FOR GS-09:

-successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
-Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
OR
-Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.
OR
-Combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

FOR GS-07:
-Successfully completed one full year of graduate level education-
OR
-Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
OR
-Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
