The Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is hiring one (1) Program Support Assistant for the Nursing Service in Los Angeles, California. This Program Support Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to many nursing programs including the Nursing Service Orientation Program at the VA. This position works collaboratively with the program coordinator and the nursing team to ensure smooth operations and successful execution of the orientation program.
Duties
The incumbent performs administrative work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of orientation and/or operational data and statistical information in support of sub-specialty programs. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Coordinate and schedule orientation activities, including meetings, seminars, and training sessions for new nursing staff members.
Develop and maintain databases to track participant information, attendance, and program evaluations.
Prepare orientation materials, including handouts, manuals, and presentations.
Perform timekeeping, auditing and various other administrative and/or clinical support duties.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with VA regulations and policies
Consolidate/analyze statistical data for i.e. periodic performance quality indicators, management reviews and preparation of reports as needed.
Analyze existing or proposed internal reports to ensure standard operating procedures are updated accordingly.
Research historical data to assist in achieving service proposals and recommendations to resolve administrative problems in the careline.
Plan and coordinate the preparation of data collection for special reports and/or formal responses as needed.
Research agency regulations, manuals, handbooks, and other reference materials to ensure local regulations comply.
Coordinate with appropriate staff regarding changes and/or problems with space or utilities within the service.
Assist in the acquisition, development, and/or scheduling of program resources, supplies, equipment, and/or materials as required.
Schedule agency staff, vendors and/or other support personnel as required.
Candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and possess the ability to multitask effectively.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/23/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify at the GS-07 grade level based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: (In addition to meeting Time and Grade) You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing administrative work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of medical/surgical or operational data and statistical information in support of sub-specialty programs.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
