About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency - National Capital Region at the Alexander T. Augustus Military Medical Center, performing a combination of clinical tasks related to the treatment and care of patients in a hospital Urology ambulatory environment.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
Conduct intake procedures, obtain general medical information, including allergies and drug sensitivities; and takes and records vital signs.
Provide health care to a range of patients presenting with complex or multiple systems dysfunctions and/or disorders.
Respond as a member of the emergency response team (ERT) for medical emergencies.
Perform procedures within the scope of practice to include, assisting with Cystoscopies, Vasectomies, and Prostate Biopsies.
Assist physician in performing diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures ranging from routine to specialized.
Administer medications with supervision of physician or nurse.
Ensure proper computer entry of patient data, adequate documentation, and equipment settings.
Ensure the sterile condition and adequacy of supplies in patient care areas and storage rooms.
Perform catheter insertions, voiding trials, and suprapubic catheter exchanges.
Conduct patient education about Urologic conditions and treatments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96 the position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculin testing unless exempt by physician.
- Incumbent must hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification that is sponsored/endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Current Advance Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clinical functions to a medical treatment facility; communicating with patients and clinicians about medical information; stocking supplies of treatment area; and experience with automated healthcare systems.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
