Duties

Performs duties of a Lead Helpdesk and Desktop Support Specialist, working with other Information Technology (IT) Specialists as a member of the Desktop Support Team. Reviews latest automation and network technologies to ensure resources are used effectively and efficiently to meet requirements and increase productivity. Responds to inquiries from serviced customers or refers customer problems to appropriate resource for response to inquiry or resolution of problem, coordinating problem resolution as necessary and logging all significant events into the database. Ensures compliance on PC and thin client architecture hardware and software and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. Provides expert technical support to computers using the current Army approved Microsoft operating systems (OS). Maintains expert knowledge of PC architecture and hardware and software capability and configurations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position has requirement to maintain IA 8570 Tech Level 2 certification.
  • Position requires Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI) access.
  • It is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R or a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
  • Position may require TDY travel up to 10% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower pay band or equivalent grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02).
