The position is located in the Uniformed Protection Division (UPD), Office of Domestic Facilities Protection, Domestic Operations Directorate, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Department of State. You will be responsible for conducting security inspections and investigations and developing and implementing policies and procedures governing uniformed protection operations.
This position may require occasional night and weekend work.
Duties
Develops and implements a crime prevention program for violence in the workplace at Department facilities and employees by conducting surveys and presentations at crime prevention seminars.
Formulates policies, standards, methods and procedures used for the protection of persons and property at nearly 100 facilities nationwide.
Provides oversight to the security operations of the Department’s uniformed security officer force which provides twenty-four (24) hour monitoring of the Department’s physical security operations.
Develops, modifies and/or updates domestic physical security standards for domestic departmental security programs.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience planning, directing, and operating a physical security program.
Experience managing and operating a variety of state-of-the-art security equipment and devices to plan and implement protective methods and security procedures.
Experience preparing and participating in the development and implementation of office policies, procedures and operational guidelines relating to physical security programs.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
