About the Position: This is a Regional Technical Specialist position serving as a Subject Matter Expert in resolving complex Endangered Species Act (ESA) issues for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.
Duties
Lead or assist with programmatic consultations and develops standard local operating procedures for endangered species (SLOPES) agreements or other interagency coordination efficiencies.
Provide guidance on complex ESA issues and procedures associated with LRD regulatory permit applications or policy issues.
Serve as lead permit application reviewer on those permit applications with complex ESA issues upon request by the district or if assigned by the LRD Regulatory Program Manager.
Serve as lead permit application reviewer on those permit applications with complex mitigation issues upon request by the district or if assigned by the LRD Regulatory Program Manager.
Disseminate current scientific information on federal laws, regulations and policies governing the ESA to regulatory staff as appropriate.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing guidance on Endangered Species Act issues and procedures associated with regulatory permit applications or policy issues; conducting quality control reviews on complex Endangered Species Act documents and programmatic consultations; and providing technical evaluation of Endangered Species Act documents.
