About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Space & Missile Defense Command/ ARSTRAT, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2 Security Division, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898.

Duties

Serves as Site Security Manager for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and Special Access Program Facility (SAPF) in the capacity of Special Security Representative (SSR) and Government Special Access Program Security Provides advice on protection of SCIF/SAPF; develops Security Classification and Procedures Guides. Responsible for facility/program security in Personnel, Physical, and Industrial Security. Administers security training to all program personnel on a regular and recurring basis. Acts as consultant to other Command elements in security matters. Monitors facility operations for weaknesses or improper procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Performs 10 to 20% Temporary Duty (TDY).
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment. (Please see details below "Additional Information")
  • Must possess have completed or will complete the Defense CounterIntelligence and Security Agency (DSCA) SAP Orientation Course (SA101.01), and DSCA Introduction to SAP Course within the first calendar year of assuming this position.
  • Must obtain the Special Program Security Certification (SPSC) through CDSE within two years of assuming the position.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
