This position is located in Office of Planning, Evaluation & Policy Development, Immediate of the Assistant Secretary. The Immediate of the Assistant Secretary advises on all matters related to policy development and implementation matters, and review.

Requirements
- You may be subject to serve a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
You may meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-14, if you possess the specialize experience.Specialized Experience for the GS-14:
One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-13 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments:
Experience with planning, researching, and developing P12 and higher education policies and programs to ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the programs.
Experience in researching and analyzing education policy issues for diverse audiences using various sources and information types.
Experience developing and drafting education policy ideas and documents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). Knowledge of Federal policies, laws, and regulations on early childhood, elementary and secondary, higher education, and federal financial aid
Ability to research, analyze, develop, and draft education policy proposals and administrate agency programs, operations, organizations, and issues.
Knowledge of management and program analysis to identify, consider, and resolve complex policy questions, including through research and draft documents, of varying length, with clarity accuracy, and concision for multiple diverse audiences, on short timelines.
Skill in determining relevant source material, establishing policies and procedures, obtaining pertinent data, performing complex and far-reaching analyses, and drawing extensive conclusions leading to effective recommendations and proposals for consideration by senior agency officials.
Knowledge of specific organization’s programs and missions; as well as knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and policies related to program and operations area to consider their impact on programs.
