The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (BPVAHCS) Program Support Assistant is responsible for on site planning, operation, and administrative coordination of the Fisher House Program in collaboration with the Fisher House Manager and Fisher House Assistant Manager(s) . The Bay Pines Fisher House is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration, VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, Bay Pines Florida.

Duties

Specialized Duties in Personnel Management and Administration. Incumbent will assist with Data Collection and Tracking Support, will perform work involving the collection, entry, compilation and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Fisher House Program. Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal clues, and responds accordingly. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with employees at all levels of the Healthcare System to support the Fisher House Program Must meet the needs of customers (internal and external) while supporting the Medical Center and service missions. Handles conflicts and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for automating, developing, implementing or administering database systems. Incumbent will utilize practical knowledge of computerized data entry, and will apply knowledge of standard procedures utilizing medical records within the CPRS system. Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday 2:00pm -10:30pm Compressed/Flexible: Available Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/18/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. General Adjustment SF-50's with the effective date of within the last year do not provide the information to reflect time-in-grade requirement has been met and therefore cannot be the only SF-50. If you are currently serving in a Hybrid Title 38 position, your SF-50's must reflect you have been in the position longer than one year This position requires a typing requirement of 40 words per minute. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: timekeeping experience, ADPAC experience, record management designee. Must have sound knowledge and mature judgement in making on the spot decisions. Utilize computer including WORD, Excel, Power Point, Share Point, databases, and specific VA applications, such as VISTA, and CPRS, excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Must be able to work with high level of independence and prioritize your daily task in addition to having limited supervision. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Administration and ManagementCommunicationCustomer ServiceDatabase Administration Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is both sedentary and at times, physically challenging. Some physical efforts, such as standing, walking, bending, or sitting, occasional moving/lifting of equipment, stair climbing or occasionally carrying items (such as mail, records, donated items etc.) of more than 50 pounds, may be required. Work is generally performed in an office setting with adequate light, heat, and ventilation. However, it may also include off-premises and outside tasks related to purchasing of Fisher House supplies, setting up, breaking down and manning FH events.
