Duties
Conducts audits/reviews of Military Pay disbursements made in program assigned to ensure the accuracy of payments made to payees to include verification of compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and supplemental guidance.
Determines accuracy of Military Pay transactions, reasons for inaccuracies, corrective action and recommends preventative measures to alleviate future similar pay disparities.
Prepares reports to document results of reviews to include accounts reviewed, accounts with any pay or non-pay errors, correct gross pay, total amount, overpayments/underpayments dollar amounts, improper payment rate and the voucher accuracy rate.
Sets up reconciliation/suspense filing system to track response or non-response.
Submits and reviews various automated systems changes and modifications that impact the computation of military payroll disbursements.
Responds to customer inquiries to include questions on findings/determinations made in compliance with pertinent pay regulations and legislation, general regulatory questions, clarification of information needed in response to standard memos, etc.

- Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: Assisting in the planning, scheduling and conducting of Military Pay reviews and evaluations on Military Pay transactions, laws and regulations; conducting portions of studies or inspections of Military Pay accounts and various entitlements; and monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls in accordance with established pay regulations in support of a financial operation.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Education
GS-07 Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
