This position is located in the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veteran Health Administration, South Central Veterans Health Care Network, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 16), Southeast Louisiana Health Care System, Associate Nurse Executive, Ambulatory Care, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Duties
As a Secretary, you will:
Provide administrative support and general assistance to the Associate Nurse Executive (ANE), Ambulatory Care as well as subordinate managers, and supervisors and facilitates the transfer of information required for effective management of the Outpatient Tower.
Review and analyze incoming staff actions, correspondence, and other actions generated internally and externally.
Research and obtain background information for required actions through the use of automated databases, historical files, and review of previous or current studies/projects on related topics.
Assist with schedules and responds to administrative problems brought to the Supervisor's attention by members of the staff, management officials inside and outside of the organization or the agency.
Processes correspondence, memoranda, letters and reports where certain procedural authorization is allowed.
Under the direction of the ANE, Ambulatory Care, executes the establishment of priorities for programs and projects in compliance with program/project objectives.
Serve as timekeeper for staff reporting to the ANE, Ambulatory Care and as back-up timekeeper for sections reporting to the Office of the Associate Director, Patient Care Services.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm (Subject to change based om the needs of the Agency)

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/13/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-04) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Using Microsoft Word and Excel; experience organizing, tracking, and maintaining information for records and reports. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond beyond the second year. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience and/or education required for the position, applicants must meet the typing requirements:

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. There will be some walking, standing, bending and carrying light items and shall involve travel to other locations.
