The primary duties of the Program Support Assistant (OA) are assisting with program development, data collection, analysis of trends, and implementation of best practices. The position provides staff support including office operations, information management, coordinates and integrates information necessary to the effective and efficient operation of the program which includes the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) and the General Caregiver Program.

Duties

Duties Include: Provides resources and referrals to Veterans and caregivers, who are seeking caregiver support services, regarding program services, concerns, appeals of decisions and ratings. Locates, organizes, develops and reports on all data for performance measures and reports this data to the care team, and to the Caregiver Support Coordinators in completing required administrative tasks such as quarterly reports which are presented to Leadership or the VISN offices. Assists in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies. Performs basic analysis of data and generates a variety of reports. Screens all calls and visitors for the CSP, answering most questions on established policy or routine matters. Produces a wide range of documents using a variety of office automation technologies. Creates and mails approval letters and supplemental materials for the PCAFC. Tracks and reports monthly and annual CSP funding for assigned program fund control points.. Prepares yearly funding requests. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify based on your experience as described below. This position requires a Typing Proficiency of 40 words per minute (WPM) GS-06 Specialized Experience: In addition to being able to type 40 WPM, You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: identifying issues, problems, or conditions and seeking alternative solutions based on evaluation of the intent of applicable rules, regulations, and procedures; practical knowledge of guidelines and precedent case actions relating to a particular program; skill to recognize the dimensions of a problem and express ideas in writing. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
