About the Position: This position is located in the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Network under the policy guidance and direction of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (ASD (HA)). The DHA is responsible for the effective execution and operation of the Department of Defense (DoD) worldwide medical mission, which is to provide medical services and support to specified categories of individuals entitled to DoD medical care.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the operations for the Defense Health Network including, but not limited to current and future business operations, resource mgmt., info. mgmt., human capital mgmt., strategic planning, and process improvement functions. Leads workgroups and planning teams focused on significant issues directly impacting the organization’s structure and mission accomplishment. Serves as advisor for the Defense Health Network Director for all assigned roles, missions, functions, tasks, and operations. Provides liaison activities and support to directors and special staff with a directed focus on military and civilian personnel, intelligence and security, logistics, information technologies, safety, and quality assurance. Provide requisite input to the senior leaders of the DHA and members of the OSD, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Military Departments, DoD Components, cont....and other designated organizations, as appropriate, for planning and execution of support operations and activities. Plans and assigns work to administrative staff. Collaborates with various process owners and supervisors to negotiate, decide on and coordinate work-related changes.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time. Travel may involve local and/or overnight.
  • This position is designated as a Key Position and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
