You will serve as a PIPEFITTER SUPERVISOR I in the PIPE SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMEN of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will serve as first line supervisor working under the direction of General Foreman I Pipefitter/Zone Manager.
You will review and assist with on-the-job training and supplemental programs, though observation and employee recommendations.
You will attend training programs, supervisor’s conferences, and will transmit applicable information to subordinates.
You will keep all work operations under close observation and control to ensure deadlines are met.
You will develop and implement safety procedures as needed.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

* Directing the accomplishment of Pipefitting work to include: removal, installation, alteration, conversion, flushing, maintenance, repair, and test operations.
* Determining sequence, priorities and deadlines of scheduled assignments; estimating material, equipment and manpower needs; developing and implementing work and safety procedures;
* Resolving work problems and taking action to overcome bottlenecks, equipment breakdowns, material shortages, and other causes.
* Maintaining records of individuals time, hours expended on work operations, cause of accident and injuries with corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
* Executing administrative functions such as scheduling and approving leave, issuing performance appraisals, deciding conduct related matters, and supporting Equal Employment Opportunity Program.
