The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the day to day operations of the Child Development Center. In this capacity, the position develops, implements and administers clerical administration of the Child Development Center.
Duties
Responsible for ensuring efficient use of center space.
Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the program.
Assists in ensuring that NAF resources are properly handled and stored.
Serves as USDA CACFP Food Service Monitor or alternate for the Child Development Program.

- Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
- Travel and relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
- Must complete additional training requirements to include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, rescue breathing, customer service, cash handling and modules.
- Training may be conducted during evening and weekend hours. May be required to work other than normal duty hours.
- May serve as Government Purchase Cardholder for CDC supply and kitchen purchases.
- Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination upon hire and every three years thereafter; and, keep current on all immunizations.
- This position has been identified as having “regular contact with children.” IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094.
- An FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
- IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.
- Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.
- May be required to drive a motor vehicle between the center and the NAF accounting office. An appropriate valid driving license required.
- This a drug testing designating position incumbent is subject for random testing for drug use.
- Must complete an SF-85 background investigation.
- The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, General Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes performing a full range of customer service assignments that occur in the normal child development center and ability to resolve recurring problems; performing a variety of routine clerical work in office, business or fiscal operations which includes filing, answering telephones, receiving visitors, and processing mail; compiling, consolidating and finalizing information from system files for various reports; using personal computers, office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to create reports, prepare routine correspondence, maintain files/records, complete time and attendance, and support office operations.

EDUCATION: Applicant has successfully completed four (4) years of education above high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicant has a combination of qualifying specialized experience and education that when combined total at least 100 percent. Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Air Force and Child Development Center regulations, procedures, and processes.
Knowledge of office functions to screen telephone calls and visitors, prepare and review correspondence, and perform other administrative work of the organization using office automation software program tools and techniques to support office operations.
Knowledge of automated and/or physical filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed. Ability to locate, assemble, and compose information for routine reports, inquiries, and non-technical correspondence.
Knowledge of proper money handling techniques and procedures to include use of a cash register, credit card machine and computer.
Ability to gather, maintain and compile pertinent data accurately. Skill in planning and organizing work and meeting deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using courtesy and tact. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
