Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, Presidential Protective Division, White House Operations Branch will allow you to utilize personnel security automated systems, law enforcement agencies, and personnel to determine the right of entry for pass holders, visitors, contract workers, media, and couriers requesting access to protected and secure United States Secret Service installations.

Qualifications
GS-9: You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $64,957) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level performing duties such as: reviewing access request forms; compiling, analyzing and evaluating investigative data, recommending course of actions as it relates to potential security risk; conducting background checks by assessing law enforcement automated databases and systems; and executing the daily operations of a federal credentialing office and understanding the regulations policies associated with credentialing operations. OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR
A combination of graduate level education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $78,592) if you possess on year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level performing duties such as: reviewing access request forms; compiling, analyzing and evaluating investigative data, evaluate the derogatory information and making recommendations as to the security risk posed; recommending course of actions as it relates to potential security risks; conducting background checks by assessing law enforcement automated databases and systems; and executing the daily operations of a Federal credentialing office and understanding the regulations and policies associated with credentialing operations. OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related OR
A combination of graduate level education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply.
