Duties

You will oversee critical certification, maintenance and repairs to assure continued certification of all diving equipment and hyperbaric facilities. You will provide technical guidance and oversight and monitor progress of work, adjust assignments, resources, and resolve various potential obstacles to workflow. You will provide liaison between procurement, contacting managers, Command Divers and service providers. You will solve a wide variety of engineering problems associated with diving systems and related support equipment. You will schedule chamber operations and implement machinery and maintenance schedules ensuring that an adequate inventory of spare parts is maintained. You will coordinate the maintenance of all potentially hazardous high pressure vessels, equipment, and related machinery including life support systems. You will direct and oversee the performance and activities of all Southwest Regional Maintenance Center Code 970 chamber technicians and Remote Operated Vehicle operators.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing diving life support systems and repair operations of hyperbaric recompression chambers by evaluating established guidelines to identify and recommend program improvements for compliance with established regulations. Education

Education may be substituted for Specialized Experience as follows:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
or

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
