You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Occupational Safety and Health Division of the Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will serve as a Branch supervisor responsible for ensuring Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements are fully implemented. You will implement the Shipyards Safety Management System, such as the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). You will supervise the professional and technical work of subordinate workers. You will plan the work of the branch to ensure Division and Department objectives are being met. You will ensure inspections and surveillances are being conducted by branch personnel to satisfy Occupational Safety and Health program requirements and expectations. You will provide technical requirements and description of the work to be accomplished to subordinates.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: interpreting and implementing the regulations of safety and occupational health principles and practices applicable to planning, developing, and overseeing subordinates carrying out a safety and occupational health program in an industrial setting conducting inspections, assessing trends, and problem solving in order to support shipyard operations.
