About the Position: This position supports the Market Office, Clinic Operations Division at the Integrated Referral Management and Appointing Center (IRMAC), Operations Section in Bethesda, MD. Work 8 hrs./day M-Friday. Work time 0800-1630 with a 30 min break. Ability to change work times based on the need of the facility (may adjust work times from between *(0700-1700hrs)

Duties

Monitor and direct the telecommunication integration planning, preparation, synchronized communications, and data collection regarding all telecommunications activities. Form new and lead existing working groups or task forces on governance programs strategy and telecommunications policy development and implementation. Responsible for technical installations, support and troubleshooting for a wide range of voice and data communications, telecommunications, telephone, computer and other interface devices and circuits being used. Analyze, interpret, and present data to various forums for decision making. Facilitate system software level troubleshooting and hardware troubleshooting, systems integration and associated technical research utilizing test and diagnostic equipment. Analyze and evaluate proposed changes to all components of the voice and data telecommunications systems. Attend site surveys and coordination efforts with various customers for the purpose of project evaluation and determining costs. Participate in planning meetings to provide resource requirements and limitations in organizational goals and objectives. Train staff on use of software and MHS-GENESIS or other Government approved telecommunications system.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience which includes assisting with telecommunications policy development to include budgetary requirements; performing site surveys of current telecommunications equipment to determine system compliance and/or performance acceptability; providing technical training of communication equipment to internal and external customers including voice, satellite, and data systems; tracking and resolving trouble tickets from telecommunications system; and performing technical analysis of telecommunications equipment to identify proper functioning. In depth experience using MHS-GENESIS and ability to troubleshoot and fix problems as the arise, is preferred. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Telecommunications Planning, System Design, and IntegrationTelecommunications Project/Program ManagementTelecommunications Systems Operations Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
