You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY DIVISION (N1S) of NAVY WARFARE DEVELOPMENT.

Duties

You will assist the Security Manager in transmitting classified material within the NWDC and in conducting inventories of classified material and security containers. You will assist the Security Manager in maintaining proper NATO Sub-Registry and Control Point processes. You will perform developmental specialist duties directed at the protection of NWDC personnel, facilities, and assets against criminal, terrorist or hostile activities. You will assist the Security Manager in the continuous evaluation of existing physical security practices, control requirements, procedures and facilities to ensure adherence to established policy. You will become familiar with vulnerability reviews and assessments of facilities where sensitive material or classified networks are located and protection systems necessary to support ongoing mission related operations or special events.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience demonstrating security policies, regulations and directives relating to access, maintenance and protection of classified information and all security files; Experience assisting with reviewing classified documents for proper markings, classification and downgrades; Experience advising command personnel on accomplishing transmittal, custody, and disposition of Secret, Top Secret, and NATO materials; Experience utilizing proper packaging and handling of classified material being carried, mailed, or shipped outside of the organization, and coordinating shipments as required. Experience in the application of SIPRNET and classified security systems within command and authorization access of Top Secret, Secret, and NATO Secret information; Experiencing using a variety of security (DISS) and computer software programs (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

1 full year of graduate level education

or

Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree.
