Duties
Serves as a social worker providing individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for beneficiaries, adults, which may include children.
Works with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include factors such as history of trauma, co-occurring conditions and suicide.
Analyzes information collected to determine psychiatric diagnosis, treatment plan and/or advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions.
Counsel clients, using approved evidence-based treatment modalities to assist clients in gaining insight into personal and interactive problems, to define goals, and to plan action reflecting interests, abilities, and needs.
Provides case management services to effectively manage patients enrolled in behavioral intensive outpatient behavioral programs and prevent crises.
Executes performance initiatives through revision of clinical standards and procedures. Performs a variety of quality management/quality assurance duties to meet the Joint Commission (TJC) requirements.

- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

- Mission essential. This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federalbholidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
- The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- This position requires occasional TDY - 5%.
- Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- This position requires the ability to lift 30 lbs.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Red Cross. Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so. Childcare background check required.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the incumbent to work on an intermittent or unscheduled, on-call basis.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker (Clinical):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients; providing individual or group counseling services; providing treatment for patients with moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses such as trauma, co-occurring disorders, or suicide; providing crisis management such as bereavement counseling, and other end of life services; coordinate health services with other clinics and providers i.e. family advocacy program, Substance Abuse Program, social service agencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Highly Preferred Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
