About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Tripler Army Medical Center, Directorate of Resource Management, Honolulu Hawaii.
Incumbent serves as a social worker providing individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for beneficiaries, veterans, adults, and may include children.

Duties
Develops individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis, identified problems and treatment needs for each case.
Utilizes social work systems and psychological theories, principals and techniques in treatment plan development.
Works with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include factors such as history of trauma, co-occurring conditions and suicide.
Analyzes information collected to determine psychiatric diagnosis, treatment plan and/or advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions.
Provides case management services to effectively manage patients enrolled in behavioral intensive outpatient behavioral programs and prevent crises.
Performs a variety of quality management/quality assurance duties to meet the Joint Commission (TJC) requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Health care providers involved in direct patient care must be Immunized or tested in accordance with current policies. Must obtain a Hepatitis B immunization unless medically contraindicated or exempted by documented religious preference.
- Position may be designated as essential during inclement weather conditions or other emergency conditions.
- May be required to work weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, watch duties and extended work hours based on patient workload or unplanned emergencies. May require additional on-call hours to provide coverage on evenings or special situations.
- This position requires occasional TDY - 5%.
- This position requires credentialing. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to meet credentialing requirements.
- A valid state license as a clinical social worker is required.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical exam.
- This position requires the ability to lift 30 lbs.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Red Cross. Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing individual or group counseling services for adults and children affected by homelessness, providing crisis management, bereavement counseling, and other end of life services, providing case management services to patients with moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses such as PTSD, trauma, co-occurring disorders, or suicide, and assisting to analyze information collected to determine psychiatric diagnosis, treatment plan, or referral to other providers.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (Note: You must attach a copy of your license.)
