Duties

Develops individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis, identified problems and treatment needs for each case. Utilizes social work systems and psychological theories, principals and techniques in treatment plan development. Works with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include factors such as history of trauma, co-occurring conditions and suicide. Analyzes information collected to determine psychiatric diagnosis, treatment plan and/or advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions. Provides case management services to effectively manage patients enrolled in behavioral intensive outpatient behavioral programs and prevent crises. Performs a variety of quality management/quality assurance duties to meet the Joint Commission (TJC)requirements.

• This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
• Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
• The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
• This position requires occasional TDY - 5%.
• This position requires credentialing. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to meet credentialing requirements.
• Valid state license as a clinical social worker.
• Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
• This position requires the ability to lift 30 lbs.
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Red Cross. Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
• Incumbent must undergo a specific initial background checks, investigation and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• This position requires the incumbent to work on an intermittent or unscheduled, on-call basis.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirements for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients; providing individual or group counseling services; providing treatment for patients with moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses such as trauma, co-occurring disorders, or suicide; providing crisis management, bereavement counseling, and other end of life services; coordinate health services with other clinics and providers i.e. family advocacy program, Substance Abuse Program, social service agencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Highly Preferred Licensure and Certification: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. Certifications such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Management Therapy, Parent Child Interaction Therapy. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
