The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a trainer for Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) watch Commanders in 24/7 Joint Service operations center responsible for BMDS planning synchronization and operations support.
Duties
Serves as JFCC IMD Operations Center Crew Trainer.
Performs AN/TPY-2 sensor manager duties.
Performs IMD Watch Commander (IWC) duties.
Supports the Operations Center.

Qualifications
This position is designated by the Air Force as a testing designated position under the civilian drug testing program. It is mandatory for the incumbent to refrain from the use of illegal drugs and misuse of prescription medication. If requested, the incumbent must submit to urinalysis testing
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 0301.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of DoD BMD objectives, functions and the roles/responsibilities of participating organization components. Knowledge of the role of the DoD BMD in supporting national missile defense military operations sufficient to ensure that the crew qualification and training program addresses complex and, often, hard-to-define BMD issues. Knowledge is used to interpret BMD exercise findings and real-world missile launches to provide recommendations to BMD training programs and TTPs and make specific recommendations for training program refinement to meet an ever-changing array of threats to the BMF enterprise. Broad knowledge of new BMD developments, the application of which may be necessary to define and execute simulations of TTPs designed to resolve either long-standing or new threats to the BMD network. Knowledge of IMD operations sufficient to make recommendations to senior leadership that identify what would be in the interest of homeland security and defense regarding potential BMD threats. Knowledge of the development, execution, and analysis of operational training programs requiring the participation of a wide range of functionally diverse DoD BMD elements and DoD BMD program partners.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge in applying qualitative and quantitative assessment methods to the design, implementation, and analysis of exercises intended to test and validate the efficacy of BMD strategies and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures.
Knowledge of DoD BMD program objectives, functions and the roles/responsibilities of participating organization components to include technical expertise on U.S., allied, and adversary missile defense capabilities, force structure, planning and execution processes.
Broad knowledge of the BMD process, applications, and operations within the BMD, to include the role of these assets in supporting national defense military operations.
Knowledge of training resources, programs, principles, and policies.
Skill selecting, adapting, extending, and applying of concepts, policy/processes and analytical methodologies commonly associated with the simulation of BMD operations in military exercises, as well as, real world operational execution.
Skill in defining, documenting, and integrating/coordinating the functionally diverse activities of many internal and external elements to achieve BMD training objectives. Skill in communicating complex technical information both orally and in writing to provide effective briefings and reports to senior leaders.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
